  • Milas Bulgarian Red Pepper info please.

So picked this up in the seed swap ( thanks Thelma ) but hard to find any decent growing info on it apart from it can grow up to a metre so im guessing it would do ok in pots, so any further info welcome especially if it does ok outside, guessing better in a gh, thanks in advance.

It originally came from Trip....Irish seed savers I think?
I grew it a few years ago, in s pot and in the GH.....Thelma has grown it a few times I think so will probably have some info.

I usually grow mine in the larger sized supermarket flower buckets
Looking in my diaries I sow them in a prop between Mid Feb and 1st week of March... and keep on a windowledge, doing the in/out thang until they can stay out in the greenhouse lol.
Usually mine stay in the greenhouse, but 1 year I grew too many and the extras went outside, at first under one of those small green polytunnel/big cloche things on the allotment - less fruit outside, though it may be because I didn't remember to feed them as much as those in the greenhouse at home.
Leave greenhouse doors open and they seem to set fruit ok on their own.

Oh - if they start flowering before the plants have branched pick the flowers and top bud off, or the plants won't branch or grow any taller, so you'll only get a few fruit.

      Good luck with them!

Yes, it was from ISS via Trip in a swap on here. I've grown it since 2014 when it did better than my old favourite Doux d'Espange, according to my diaries.

            What Thelma says
I find it fairly straightforward but do follow advice re early flowering
I dream of a better tomorrow, where chickens can cross the road and not be questioned about their motives....
