    And again! :0)
(OCD and new allotment planning for a friend leads to lots of questions, sorry! ;0)!!)

If you have a bed growing comfrey, is it good to chuck a load of manure on it after you have taken your last cutting around september or does this not need it / not work too well for another reason?
    Thanks again

If you have loads of muck by all means but priority wise comfrey is towards the bottom of the list for the benefiting from an application of muck.

In my experience comfrey does not need any feeding and will grow well how ever you treat it. I have tried to remove some as it was growing in a place I wanted to make a new bed in , and it was impossible, whatever I did it just kept on growing. I even cut mine down to the ground now,to harvest the leaves as I know it will come back!

I don't cut mine after the summer holidays, letting the plants die back naturally. The remaining leaves will die back naturally and feed the roots for next year's growth. Use your manure for somewhere else

I think one of the main reasons comfrey is used is because its deep root system utilises nutrients that are out of the reach of other plants!

It could be termed as one of those plants that 'the harder you treat it the more it will work for you'

I personally would give other plants an extra doze of manure rather than put it on a comfrey bed!
