I would only sow tomatoes if you can give them heat and light until at least May.

Cold tolerant varieties of spinach can be sown now, as can indoor sweet peppers, salads and microgreens.

I am going to look into a heater for my greenhouse, loads of mixed reviews on quite a few online though

The peas I sow in guttering are in an unheated greenhouse, don't know quite how they'd do in the open just yet.

I've just sown some Hispi cabbage in a tray on the window-ledge, doesn't need bottom heat, just to be inside for a while to germinate, then outside under a cloche or coldframe.

Think long and hard about what you want to grow that requires heat over winter - and whether the expense is worthwhile.

I don't heat mine but I do use a heated propagator to start seeds off - in the kitchen!

Cracked lips, chapped legs and aching hands..................Oh right veggies.

Many of the orientals can cope with being sown now if you put them in your greehouse and wrap a bit of fleece around them.

Emporers Savoy, Chinese cabbage - Michini and Japanese spinach Hohei are as tough as old boots as far as the weather is concerned - except they don't like midsummer as they bolt.
