    Hello all.

I've just discovered this website and I suspect in future weeks and months I'll be hitting it hard as my wife and I have just got an allotment.

After having put weedkiller on the whole site some 2 weeks ago I'm going through the process of digging it over. I've got a patch of approximatley 8mts by 3mts cleared and hoed and was wondering what if anything I could plant there now? Also if there any reccomendations as to where to get fruit and veg form would also be appreciated.

Japanese overwintering onion sets and garlic! Both are easy to plant, not fussy about soil fertility and fairly trouble free.

Depends whether you like onions and garlic though?

    If not, Spring Cabbage/Broad beans!

Well, I'd be tempted to give 'em a go, Sweetpea, though I'm pretty new too - welcome to the vine, and let us know how you get on!

WIth regard to plants to plant from plugs - lots of seed companies selling pretty good value brassica plantlets to go in about now.......

Carrots - probably depends where you are growing Sweetpea. I sowed my winter carrots last week. I did the same last year and had a reasonable crop through the winter. Try Autumn King, they always seem to do well up here.
