  • chitting potatoes in a cold shed

I know emerging potatoes need frost protection, but what about in seed form?

I've some chitting at the moment in my allotment shed, but the temperature does drop below freezing no doubt.

    Thoughts?

You may get away with it if the temp wasn't too low and not for long, but really they need to be kept above freezing

Is there a risk I may have damaged them then? God dammit

        Forage, I wouldn't think so.
I would cover them with some fleece ubtilmthis cold spell has passed.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

Really depends on the length of exposure...once the seed pots have been frosted They tend to start turning black on the inside and go mushy

Most times you can identify frosted potatoes because they will look wet (When you have stored in a dry location and the soil should be dry)
