We grew some "Russian Giant" sunflowers a couple of years ago and to be fair, they did live up to their name. The stem was nearly 3m tall with a huge head on it. Didn't hear it speak any Russian though...

Not really, I’m more often drawn to grow a new variety by its colour
or a funny/nice/different name.
