    Yes, Jimmy, I suspect it being in a pot that froze was the problem. I've had one in the garden for 20 years now that I annually hack into shape with a hedge-trimmer each summer (gets too tall and begins to shade a greenhouse, gets too wide and obstructs paths etc) and it's suffered all the extreme winters mentioned above (and, I trust, the current one) without much of a murmur.... Not particularly by conscious design it gets some protection from the North and West but none from the South or East.
