  • Over wintering onions and garlic!

Following the recent snow here in Hampshire, my over wintering onions (and garlic) are blanketed in snow. Not sure if this will insulate them and do them no harm, or kill them off! On the other side, where the snow is laid on the plastic sheet on my raised beds, it should be warming the soil nicely I think!

Yes, your onions and garlic will be insulated . I can't think why snow on plastic would have any warming qualities though.

Could be wrong about snow on plastic, on second thoughts. The plastic on the raised beds is supposed to raise the temperature after a few weeks. Thought the snow might add an extra bit!

without the snow it will help raise the soil temperature

If the snow has not crushed them my solar tents were supposed to be warming a bed up last week
