  • How to overwinter Cauli

My seed packet (for 'All the year round' Cauliflower) says autumn sown seeds should be overwintered in a coldframe.

Unfortunately I don't have a coldframe and I don't really want to buy one either. I have a two tier greenhouse, a plastic kit type. Can I just leave the cauli seedling in individual pots and placed inside this greenhouse. I have no idea how fast the cauli is supposed to grow. Also by spring when it's ready for planting out, how big are these cauli? So do I need to make sure I have put them in bigger pots?

Yep, that'll do exactly the same job. Shouldn't be a problem.

      Hi
How can I prevent the rain causing mildew on my summer cauli florets which are forming nicely but then go mildewy. I want to put something over them other than leaves, thats not working - what shall I use instead for those caulis that are small and still looking good?

Hi, is this Rita??? You could put a cold frame over them, The leaves usually work...are u sure they aren't ready to pick? You need to make sure the leaves aren't touching the curds.

It might just be cos it's wet!
