Its a good idea to plant chillies & peppers as early as Feb inside so you get a good crop when its warm.
You also need an early variety in the UK.

Yes, an early start is a good idea if you can. However you don't need early varieties for the UK. That's a myth. There is plently of time in a UK summer to grow all but the longest season peppers. I had Assam peppers this year planted indoors in Feb and were ripe by early August.
