I ordered Spring Green seeds from Marshalls and Premier Seed on the same day, Premier seeds arrived on Friday, I received an email from Marshalls on Friday that I should receive them in the next five days, so there are two more days to go!

So I can't complain but how fast they ship your order and so far the quality of the seeds have been good so I will continue to use them when I want something specific I can't pick up in the Wyevale 50p seed sale.

I have used and use both Marshalls and Premier over the years not had a single problem with Premier.

A few years back my potato order from Marshalls when delivered had one bag of the wrong variety, rang Marshalls "very, very sorry sir, the correct variety will be in the post today, please keep the wrongly delivered variety as some recompense for our mistake. True to their word the correct spuds arrived two days later.

Not even a miserable old *** like me could argue with that response.

When I let them know with one variety of asparagus, they tested it and told me it didn't meet their standard. They also withdrew it from sale. Yes I am nosey so I checked. Sorry to hear you are not happy with them.

            Premier seeds

I've used premier seeds a few times, and find them generally very good. You get smaller quantities of fresh seed, rather than what the likes of T&M provide, such as 5,000 carrot seeds in a packet.

Most recent purchase was some orange pepper seeds, and all have germinated fine.

I too got a £60 Naked Wines voucher. I'm not normally a sucker for mailshots like this, but me and Mrs G drink a lot of wine, there's always a bottle open in the house and I would say we probably drink 3 bottles a week between us. So I carefully examined the offer and basically it's a mixed case of 12 bottles for £50. So far they've all been very good, and I like the thought of supporting fledgling wine growers, so although the wine is a little more expensive than in the supermarket, I may persist with it.

Well, they're very discriminating with their offers, as I didn't get one! Too far to send, I guess...

One of their items that I'm looking forward to using is pelleted carrot seed. I'm terrible at sowing carrot seed, but this looks like it should be quite easy. I might actually get the spacings right. And it wasn't expensive either.

For anyone interested in small quantities of seed, MoreVeg is another online option. You get proper instructions on the packet, which is handy if you're a beginner. PSD packets don't have instructions.

I often use Premier seeds and as with most of the seed suppliers I occasionally get seeds that don't germinate, but the same applies to seeds from other suppliers.

I guess sometimes my sowing conditions are not right for good/quick germination, I don't automatically blame the seed, there are too many variables which affect results. Often when this happens I'll sow seed from a different supplier with the same sad results.

Last year after germination problems, things improved when I used a different brand of compost. I explained to the compost supplier, who asked me to send them a sample of the stuff to test. After being reminded they sent me a garden centre voucher without actually admitting if there was something wrong with it

I have had no real issues with premiers seeds apart from some packets which I opened last year then sealed, however their not germinating as good this time around.

^That's not unusual, gardengeordie. The same is true of other suppliers' seeds.

I stopped using Premier Seeds when I ordered Brown Berry tomatoes and what grew were something else (red plum shaped) good germination but the wrong plants. I presumed that either they'd got their labelling mixed up or their seed supplier had had cross pollination. I asked for a comment from them and got back "nobody else has complained".

I noticed another response in the thread was "didn't get what I'd ordered".
