This is well worth a read at the moment - especially for all those of you who are puzzled why their seeds haven't germinated as fast as you think they should (like 2 days!!)

Just a quick reminder in this rather cold and wet spring to think about germination temperatures when you're sowing your seeds. Your seeds need warmth & moisture to germinate - they will often grow on in cooler conditions, but really do need a bit of heat to get going.
The link below shows the ideal temperatures needed for different crops - around 18C+ for tomatoes & peppers and at least 16C for cucumbers & squashes.
Remember: Seeds + cold wet soil = the perfect recipe for rot!
