On the carrot front, big recommendation for Rouge de Sang (Blood Red) from me. Not F1, also available from Etty's. I imagine from elsewhere too. I had good germination rate. They're not enormously long, but beautifully sweet and a very attractive colour (despite the name, not blood red). I'm growing them again this year. Sorry, LD...

I love my beetroot and was also inspired by tasty cooked-in-beef-fat posh dinner. I ordered mine from Dobies too. Can't wait to try them.

              They look fantastic lottie
I lifte all of mine yesterday. They are ugly and not much usable on them.
I made the fatal mistake of planting them in one of my newly created raised beds. Far to much manure in bed and the roots split in all directions and because of our abnormally beautiful summer ( which has now well and truly left ) they were very hairy searching for water. I did water but obviously not enough.

Could you replant some and grow them for seed
it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

In boxes layered with sand, in a cool frost free place, should store fine all winter. I've also taken out a hole in the plot in the past, lined with fleece, place beets in fleece and covered and then covered in soil and again they have been fine over winter, just remember to stick in a stake so you can remember where they are
