  • yellowing cucumbers

    Hi
    Just a query about my cucumbers
    They are the telegraph variety on one plant I have 2 cucumbers about 12inch long but they are now turning yellow, are they over ripe or is it a defiency ?
    any ideas welcome as i was going to show them in our allotment show

    I think they might be over-ripe. You best cut them soon or they will stop producing.

      As they are of a decent size then I'd assume that they are over ripe also. Cut them off now as Shirl says. I've occaisionally had a baby one go yellow and drop off. Not too sure why as it's been on an otherwise healthy plant.

      Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

      Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

        Definitely sounds as if they are over-ripe. Remove them as soon as and you'll still be able to use them, leave them and your plants will stop producing more cukes for you. Better to waste a few than run out completely. I binned twenty two this week for this very reason.

          They turn yellow when they go to seed. So, if you want to save seed...
