  • Pea moths!

    Hello!

Every year I end up losing most of my peas to pea moth. But I appear to have accumulated about eleventy million packs of pea seeds (not quite sure how that happened) and dammit I want to eat some homegrown peas! So....do pheromon traps for pea moths work? Seen a few online (assume they are all much of a muchness?) but are they worth shelling out for? Or do you have any other bright ideas?

    Ta muchly!

covering the plants when they are on flower with fleece, would be my first suggestion.

yes, cover with fleece (or old closely woven net curtains) before the flowers open, as the moths lay their eggs in the flowers. Peas are self pollinating so no worries about covering them.

I grow tall Telephone peas and cover them with Debris netting it seems to work out fine keeping out both pea moths and Sparrows.
