  • Covering grass seeds - Peat moss vs Compost

When I read tips on what to cover grass seeds it normally is nutrient rich substance such as compost? I thought something low in nutrients like peat moss would be better.

I.e., when sprouting seeds or cuttings low nutrient substances are recommended, so why are grass seeds different?

It will encourage the roots to go down better and still leave a mulched surface. The compost goodness gets washed down and then the grass roots take it up.
