Search tips?

Hi guys. I knew at some point I mentioned when I planted out my rocket tatties, but I'm not sure it was in the What I Did Today thread and my basic searches aren't getting anywhere.

What's the best way to search for that, please?

Yup, search here is crazy - I can find loads of stuff I don't want but never what I am really looking for

When I do a keyword and user name search I almost never get what I'm looking for - it'll frequently say no results even when I know (and subsequently find, by accident) that the keyword I'm searching for is something I've typed. :-/

I did a 'rocket' and 1Bee search and didn't get anything on that thread... Thank you MH!

I went to the "what I did today" thread, clicked on the "search thread" button (on the grey band, not the general search box), clicked "advanced search", entered "rocket tatties", 1Bee, and set the criteria for posts rather than threads, 3 months and newer, pressed go, and that post was at the top of the list. Easy peasy

That assumes you know which thread you are looking for, in most cases the thread title isn't known - then it really isn't so easy!

That's true TS, but 1Bee did give a clue where to start looking, so that's where I started, and struck gold first try.

Failing that, if I want to find a post of mine, (or anyone), it often works to go to "find latest posts" in the user profile and just hunt around the approximate date.

Searching the Vine is like a game - or being a detective. You have a few clues and have to narrow your search until you find what you're looking for.
I think its fun, but I live a quiet life and don't watch TV.
