I have got some old tyres to use as planters in front of the greenhouse ( mainly to protect the glass from the kids). Should I line them with black plastic first or just use them "as is"? Thanks

Don't think you need to line them.
I'm growing rhubarb in a tractor tyre. Not got a lining in it.

I have strawberries in all of mine and I did'nt line them.
The downside is slug hide aways.
The upside is the black, metal lined rubber heats the soil very quickly so is good for early or tender bits and bobs.
