  • Anyone tried or is growing liquorice?

It's something I've been fancying trying for a while.
I recall the phrase 'wet feet, sunny head'
That being the case, I have one small area I could plant one.
Having a little goooogle I found this article today...

    https://www.telegraph.co.uk/gardenin...s-gardens.html

sort of got me interested again....

I think VC is another lady you need to talk to

To be fair anyone wanting to know about weird stuff, sending them to see VC is my default setting

OK, I do have seeds (old) in my weird collection and I did sow some - but there's no sign of them (including the pot).
My heart wasn't really in it - takes too long, grows too big and I don't like liquorice. If you said Angelica.................

The short story of my liquorice

My plants were grown from seed and germination seemed to improve with aged seed. Then two plants went through a house move. Neither ever flowered. I did harvest them ?2015. (One long, long, long, long root per plant only to forget about them until they had gone manky). Replanted the plants that held on for about a year then gave up the ghost.

Would I grow again - nope!

You two evidently don't know the culinary delights of liquorice
it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

                    Are they still available?
I used to suck the sherbet off the liquorice then throw the liquorice away . Didn't have them often, wasn't that keen on sherbet either

I don't know how you'd process it after it's grown, I tried the Liquorice wood as a child, but didn't like it, my better half has found me some quite nice low sugar Pontefract cakes as well as the cylinder shaped stuff, have a couple bits most evenings, love the stuff. Do you remember Liquorice Imps, they were nice too, came in a little tin.
