  • Using the fine tulle (fabric) as netting

    Hi,

I I want to know people's experiences using tulle as netting against pests.

This still is used for weddings and clothing. Its a fine mesh of varying sizes that allows light through, rain and provides some wind protection. It's much cheaper than branded insect netting and want to know if people have used it in their gardens.

    Thanks

Hi Sim, I haven't used tulle, but I have used net curtains (cheap, !kea ones) very effectively.

If it's still being used for weddings, I'd probably give a good wash before wearing it, if you've used it for fruit netting

I suspect cheaper will be best here - you want all man-made fibre and as close to single filament (as opposed to ones that try to look like natural furry fibres). Also, check there's no metallic on. It will probably be less strong, so make sure you support it well.

I've used the Ik3a netcurtains but, after a year or so left out in the sun and rain, they perished.
No idea whatsoever about tulle, or what it looks like or feels like. Anything does as a temporary measure but long term - who knows?

Lots of stuff on Goggle about using it in the garden - here's one https://garden.org/ideas/view/chelle...in-the-Garden/

Hello and welcome Sim2500. Just the question I was wondering about, as I've just been given a bundle of shocking blue and pink tulle. Horrendous colours, bound to confuse butterflies.
