Would two cucumbers in this https://www.homebase.co.uk/regency-t...acotta_p718227 container be a bit of a squeeze? I’m growing Spacemaster, if that makes a difference.

I see Premier Seeds Direct sell Spacemaster 80. Their advice is:
Ideal for growing in containers of at least 8″ diameter.
So about 20 cm as a minimum. In theory, then, you should be able to grow two in this trough. But it would be a squeeze and doubtless they'd compete with each other. If you go the two-tier pot route, as nickdub suggests, you'll be using two pots anyway. So if you have the space, you might do better to have each one in its own pot.Last edited by Snoop Puss; 29-05-2018, 10:27 AM.

Thanks very much for the replies. I want to prop it on top of a water butt and don’t want to use a round pot because I want a better distribution of weight (rather than placing all the weight on the lid) so I will see if I can make the bottomless pita idea work. Appreciate your help

No worries - hope it goes OK - I buy the Morrison's 8 for £1 flowerpots for a lot of my stuff (they are ex-display pots for cut flowers) and I often saw out most of the bottoms of those as they are a bit on the small side for toms etc. Best to saw through the base rather than the sides BTW, as leaving a "rim" round the edge means it stays stronger.

If you proud it with two plants neither may do too well.
Perhaps just one which will have plenty of space.
And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.
