  • New stems at base of toms

I've had a look to see how the toms were getting on. Money maker and gardeners delight.

Both have new shoots or stems coming from the soil. Do I leave alone or do something about them?

A picture would help just to be sure before we advise to get rid.

I've done my best to capture the stems. The foliage makes it tricky. Some of the stems/runners are 6" long.

Someone with more knowledge and experience will no doubt be along in a second but... I would pull them off and pot them on into another pot... they look very healthy!

            Hi Monkey boy.
            Yes, I always remove them.
You can pot them up or put them in water until you see some roots forming.
            This gives you extra plants.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

I'd say they're side shoots too and would snap them off and bung in some water until they root.
