  • Hanging baskets trials

After deciding that hanging baskets inside the greenhouse were too high maintenance with watering required twice a day(and with a fortnights holiday on the horizon), I decided on an outdoor experiment with vegetables.

This one is climbing French beans, so some flowers but the main interest is the veg crop, a very windy day today, so it now sits on the ground until it calms down a bit. At one point everything was still growing upwards and starting to go over the summerhouse roof, thought I was going to need a ladder to pick them if that carried on.

These two are also now sitting on the ground, due to the winds, but the left hand one has petit pois in and they are hanging and flowering nicely, the one on the right are sweetpeas. All the pots have had a top up of compost and a twice weekly feed of tomato liquid feed and up to now the whole thing is actually going rather well.

I like that idea burnie, I think I will give that a try with some dwarf peas and beans
it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

      Sugar snaps work well...............
I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work. Thomas A. Edison
