  • Tomato feed causing fungus?

    Hi folks!

Can't seem to find any info online about this. In the attached image, you'll see a tomato plant with small, round (what looks like) fungus growing around its stem. This is happening to all my tomato plants, and the fungus is only growing in the area I'm watering with tomato feed. This is a new bed, all new compost in April.

So, it would suggest that it is the tomato feed. Is it anything to worry about? Never grown tomatoes before. Should I just pick them out as they grow?

    Thanks,

    Baps.

Its growing on something in the compost - decaying wood possibly and is nothing to do with the tomato feed.
Pull it out if it worries you.

    Sylvan had something similar https://www.growfruitandveg.co.uk/gr...eds_96814.html

Aplogies baps I've had this before and looked it up, can't remember which particular fungus it is though... (not much help sorry) but I do know it didn't do any particular damage to whatever . plus 1 to VC and Baldy's comment...

        Your toms look very healthy

Thanks guys, Sylvan's pic looks a lot like the same thing. I just found it odd that there's 10' of bed, I only water around the base of the toms and that's the only place they are growing. But I guess the rest of the bed could be comparatively dry or anything really.

Just wanted to check it wasn't something unwanted. Slugs attacking the beans like there's no tomorrow, didn't want to lose the tomatoes too!

          Thanks again,

          Baps.

well, assuming you are feeding in water, then you are making the dampest places where you feed. what they said about not worrying about it
