How long have they been in the ground?

With respect, a bit more information would be very useful.....ie when were they planted?
        What variety..?
Are they planted in the ground or in Pots/buckets/containers..?
What compost/soil are they growing in..?
When did you last grow potatoes in that ground/soil or compost..?
How much water have they had...???
I'm sure if you can supply a few answers you will get some advice.

Just realised that I should have given more information.
They [Desiree, Pentland Javelin.] are in the same large buckets [cattle feeders] as last year with a potato compost which gave great results last year. Have kept them well watered but was late getting them planted owning to the wet cold spring. Were well chipped and compost added as they grew.
Being new to growing I always expect the worse to happen.
          Thanks for your help.

As well as wilting, are there any other symptoms, such as yellow or spotted leaves or brown patches on the leaves? Do the bottoms of the stems look black?

You say planted late but you don't say when.

Pentland Javelin are a first early. According to JBA, 65 to 110 days. So these ones could be ready for picking! Hope that's the case. Happy chomping if so.

Desirée are a maincrop though Thompson & Morgan say early maincrop. According to T&M, they take 15 weeks, according to JBA 120 to 145 days.

If you can get your hand down inside the bucket to see if it's moist all the way down. I often find that water will dampen the top then run down the sides of the pot rather than penetrating all the way down. A long gentle drip in this case, would penetrate further than a full blast of a hose
