  • Hector well and truly defeated and also tastes great .

A bit of a weird title but as some members on here may remember all the problems i had after Storm Hector with my spud's .
This afternoon when doing some general weeding and tidying up round my Pentland Javelins i disturbed some soil and found a chicken egg sized spud .
My shock was turned to disbelief when after 5/10 minutes scraping about i had spuds up to cricket ball size and plenty of them .
We took about half a bucket out and left the rest to grow on but this show's everyone that if you put in the effort you will be rewarded .
The 6/7 hours work i done after Hector has come good from my spuds which i gave up as a lost cause a month ago .
Had some for my tea fresh home grown new spuds boiled with a touch of butter cannot be beaten long may they grow .

That's good to hear - glad it worked out well for you.

Brilliant news. Nothing quite like the first home-grown spuds. Still waiting for mine. Congratulations on yours.

Good news for you - well done

My Beans have never recovered. 1st the storm, then the heat combined with sandy soil . Bad combination.

Maris peers have decided that summer is here and they are ripe. They are nice clean spuds, if only were a few more per plant. my Charlotte and Records have a nice flower on them.
