Just to confuse things even more, my favourite "runner" bean is Stardust. White flowers and gorgeous stringless beans which lack the slightly furry texture of the outsides of some runners. They are actually runner/french bean cross and are self pollinating. The red flowered "equivalent" Firestorm is not as nice in my opinion.
