  • Flea Beetles Infestation

    Hi all,
Don't know if anyone else has suffered from flea beetles this season but my brassicas have been ruined by the pescy so and SO's, I've been growing brassicas for years and beyond the seedling stage of growth flea beetle has never been an issue but this year.......urghhhh. All my brassicas have been really slow this year despite regular watering, calabrese and cauli's haven't hearted it's been a real challenge but over the last 2 weeks or so flea beetle have just about finished the crops off, I'm assuming this is purely down to the extreme heat and dry conditions we've had to deal with this year.

Hopefully a more normal season next year.

    Cheers, VG

PS at least the slugs have been non existent.

Loads of flea beetles and also whitefly on the brassicas at the allotment. Turnips and swedes particularly suffering from flea beetle.

I was always told that in dry conditions you should only water the base of the plant. Flea beetles are desperate for moisture, so if you water with a rose they will infest the plants because of the resting/trapped moisture
