A few years ago I planted four welsh onion plants, and each plant throws up about 10~ leaves at a time. I planted a new one (different variety, red) in my garden last year, and it's doing very well - but the leaf/stem always comes from the same stem and sort of splits into 3-4 as it's growing.
I seem to remember something about them doing better in their second year, which it is. I allowed it to go to seed, and have tried cutting it near to the ground - but instead it's just growing out of the same stem.
Any ideas on how to make it bunch out?
