        I remember something about this, I must have been about 14 or 15 when a friends Dad died and they tied ribbons on the hives I never knew why though.

          I thought you tapped 9 times and told the bees the name of the person who'd died ... the thing with a lot of these traditions theres a kernal of truth with them as daft as it sounds

            Rudyard Kipling was a beekeeper. He wrote a poem, "The Bee-Boy's Song", about telling the bees.
