Bumble bee query

As posted earlier I have a Beepol bumble bee hive in the garden this year. On opening the lid yesterday I discovered some kapok type material (like a very heavy spider web) in the gaps between the plastic hive and the wooden sides. Now is this due to bee activity or is it the dreaded wax wing moth larvae stuff?

Thanks for that, (should have checked myself) - worst fears confirmed, so I have been out this afternoon and hoiked as many out as I could before the legal inmates got a bit fed up and I had to stop.

Hopefully I got most of them and the birds will enjoy the free food.

Will check again in a day or two.
