Thanks for the link, and the warning about slow loading. I turned off images before I started, and the page loaded almost at once. It's all the pics slowing it down.

Oooh now why did I go and click on that link? I have so many seeds already!

Having said that I have been fascinated by all the different bumble bees I have in the garden at the moment - from the great big fat ones to the diddy ones with furry white bottoms. They are fascinated by the flowers on my berberis.

And I would love to start keeping honey bees but I think the garden is a bit too small and the neighbours a bit too paranoid.

Thanks for feeding my obsession VC!
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

                        Anytime Jeanie!
We used to have 4 hives in the garden and I loved watching the bees. Unfortunately, they went down with European Foul Brood and a couple of colonies had to be destroyed. It was one of the most awful things I've ever seen. We gave up then as we couldn't face losing any more. The garden seemed really empty without them.
But a few of years ago one of the empty hives was taken over by a wild swarm and I left them to get on with it without interference. They thrived, without any treatment and were taken on by a beekeeper from the University who was also researching bee disease and was hoping to breed a disease resilient strain of bee. I often wonder whether my girls are still going.
I'm off now too - Night night!

                            Sorry you missed out PnK
Lets hope that all 10,000 packets of wildflower seeds are sown and don't languish at the bottom of someone's seed stash.

Doh! Completely missed this VC. What were the seeds? I've probably got them lurking somewhere anyway. Will go and find Matt's alternative.
