I think that the lack of bees in Japan this year may be due to the huge radiation leaks that are occuring at Fukushima? .... they have not been able to contain the radiation and vegetables, fish, animals and fruit in parts of Japan are now mutating .... yet the officials say that 'everything is under control'

eg. someone's looking at a really tall sunflower. Don't they usually grow tall in Japan then? And funny-shaped vegetables? Happens all the time here in the UKAll gardeners know better than other gardeners." -- Chinese Proverb.

As well as pollinating by hand with small brush as mentioned above, have you considered placing moth and butterfly (and other insect) loving plants in the vicinity of your toms/other fruiting plants?
It may be too late for this year but worth considering for next year."Nicos, Queen of Gooooogle" and... GYO's own Miss Marple
Location....Normandy France
