I am tending to agree AIC, first time I have signed a petition that asks for donations and had three emails from them since yesterday. One to get me to send a link, one asking for a donation and one asking if I want to attend a protest.

    Unsubribed now.

I think the bee topic here is nothing more that 38 degrees latest recruitment tool. It seem to me they have set up an organisition to petition for .... well, whatever get's the most publicity and membership .....very shallow.

        I'll pass, sorry.
I don't care how smug they might be, if it has a beneficial effect that's got to be the priority, join the campaign! Got us all talking about it, anyway.......

38 degrees have been around quite a while, they have achieved enough signatures to force debates in the house of commons on several important issues. As for asking for donations, well contributions are voluntary and you really can't expect them to do this without some help towards the cost. The details they require are minimal and I think are required by the Government to check that all the signatures are genuine otherwise you could have multiple voting. The protection of our bees is just about one of the most important issues affecting all of us. The 38 degrees system allows us all to have a say and in my opinion we should take advantage of it.

            Victory for the Bees!!
Newsflash from the Soil Association who were also promoting the petition with Friends of the Earth and 38 Degrees.
This week, after almost 220,000 people called on David Cameron and Defra to enforce the suspension on harmful neonicotinoids, we are delighted to let you know that Syngenta have withdrawn their application to use the insecticide this autumn. Emma Hockridge, Soil Association head of policy says:
'We are delighted that Syngenta has withdrawn its application to be allowed to use one of the banned neonicotinoids which have been shown to damage bees and other pollinators. This is a victory for pollinators, for public opinion and for science – there was no good reason for allowing this derogation and the impact could have been catastrophic. A global study on systemic pesticides recently assessed 800 peer reviewed studies which highlight the risks to birds, earthworms and other pollinators as well as bees.'
