Lovely birds. Haven't seen our six for a week or two.
Do you get many nigellas growing from spillage? Got a pie from Aldi with nigella seeds on it but didn't put it out for birds.
An old snap.https://www.flickr.com/photos/103667.../shares/9mf1x4Riddlesdown (S Croydon)

No, 'cause its The seed of the African yellow daisy, Guizotia abyssinica, Nyjer is known by many names. (nigella isn't one of them, as far as I am aware). it is also supposed to be sterilized before it is imported.Feed the soil, not the plants.
(helps if you have cluckies)

Never had parakeets or flying rats in our garden but we are near the Lancashire coast and quite rural. We get wood pigeons which eat lots of seeds but don't touch the Niger, not much eats em to be fair,. Mainly just finches up here. Stick a Niger feeder up with a little seed in it, it took a good couple of months for us to see a gold finch so could take some time to get any interest.
