Frogspawn- it's that time again folks!!!

After cadging some frogspawn from a neighbour I now think I have at least one grown up frog in the pond as there's a splash whenever I go near it!

We had none last year and this year the pond is full of it, excellent!

We took the dogs out for a walk this morning and nearly stood on a frog that was in front of our doorstep, it was a lovely golden colour.

We have frogspawn for the first time. A friend ( Jack) gave me some last year but we never saw froglets so we thought perhaps the newts had eaten them all. surprised really to have frogspawn this year- best thing though ours appeared before Jacks

In it's second year, my allotment pond now has frogspawn ! My frognapping last year paid off...
And there was what looked like a really tiny dead newt. This year it looks like things are really coming together for the wild bit of our site.
But I am definitely giving up the plot this year end as I am moving house away from the area. Typical. I hope the next person keeps the pond, it's the only one we have.

....have seen up to 8 frogs in the pond during early evening observations but either they are all offspring of the first year (so will be too young) or males (no comment there).....

They must have heard me and decided to prove me wrong as today there is frogspawn, and for most of the day a mad orgy too....... (frogs in the pond b4 anyone says anything!)

Me and the cats have been watching the frog orgy in our pond for 3 or 4 days now... several blobs of frogspawn in there... but today I was dismayed to see a 'threesome' that had got so frenzied the poor lady frog in the middle had been fatally squished (the two chaps don't seem to have noticed yet)

Serves me right for perving...

Sweepster: that's sad... we had a floater this year too.

Note to others: It take's 3 years for frogs to reach maturity so last year's froglets won't give you spawn this year.......

We have spawn in one of the two lottie ponds, none at home as yet and thats normally heaving with both frog and toad spawn.

Hoorah! Found our first "pile" of frogspawn in our pond today. Didn't think it would be too long, the frogs have been making a racket lately

Hi Nico's I have not got a pond but went I took over an overgrown allotment at the end of last year there was a couple of bath's left in there.
I went back to see what I needed to do in January and thought I'd just leave them there and use them as planters later on in the year.
I went over today and one of them is chock full of Frog spawn so I may have a plague on my hands soon!!!!
