At the moment I am sans pond - both at home and on the plot. However, I intend to build one shortly on the plot and my mum has a pond that regularly "spawns". She has offered to donate some from her pond for mine on the plot. Will that work? Daft question I know, but you know me...

You'll need the frogspawn Wayne or tadpoles- not the baby frogs - for them to return.

I have frogs doing what frogs do at this time of the year.....but no frog spawn yet!
I have fish too and still get many frog 'seeds' turning into tadpoles. The main destroyer of life are the dragon fly lava, horrid, scary, nasty things they are too, until they turn into beautiful dragonflies.

Please can we have a NATURE SECTION please please please :-)

The toads were "at it" on Sunday 3rd February at Penrhyn Castle (open for the snowdrop event).

I only know about minced beef, and that if overcrowded they eat each other

Do other people feed their tadpoles....and if so - what??

Just seen the weather forcast for frost for the next 2 nights- so I'd better cover up the pond with something to protect the frogspawn!

                        Tadpoles eat green algae.

Our frogs are diving .. but still too cold for frog sex.

Last week I saw frogs mating at the allotment (in the baths people have sunk underground to store water). They are so used to being disturbed when you fill your watering can up that they barely bat an eyelid.

No spawn in our pond yet, just as well, a strange dog ran into the garden and had a swim in it last week!

PS Wayne, if you're going to build a pond, now is a great time to do it - wildlife is on the move in search of mates and so you might find that frogs or newts appear all by themselves.

Also, they've got loads of beautiful pond plants, complete with planting baskets at Aldi for £4.

What I want to know is what do frogs have to pawn?
The river Trent is lovely, I know because I have walked on it for 18 years.

We have so much frogspawn and the frogs are making a real racket as they go about their business , I went out and counted 6 mating pairs and we only have a small pond! The water lily which is somewhat dormant at the moment is completely covered in the spawn.

We've put some in a bucket in the garage until the frost is over in the next couple of days. We lost all of it to the frost last year and I want those little frogs to eat the nasty little slugs!!!
