  • Birdsong

I was trying to identify an unusual bit of birdsong when I came across this rather lovely page on the BBC Radio 4 site:

    BBC - Radio 4 - British Birdsong

The MP3 downloads are quick and easy, and it's such a joy to hear all the different styles of song - cheers you up on a dull Saturday morning!

Does anyone know of any similar resources?

I love hearing birdsong but can never identify them. We even got some CDs with birdsong for ID purposes. Sadly we can only play them in the bedroom - the budgie goes demented trying to answer them all!

The RSPB bird guide has bird song clips on the ID page of each bird.

      The RSPB: Birds by name

This is one of the main books with cds, probably the one Flums budgie prefers!

That's the one - he loves it!

On Thursday my grand-daughter said she was going to tell him a joke. She trotted into the living room and I heard her muttering and the budgie chirping. She then said she was going to tell him another. She came back rather upset 'because he didn't laugh at this one'. I said maybe he didn't have a sense of humour. She said 'But he laughed at the first one!' She's three and a half! Heaven help us when she's a teenager!
