    Greetings,
First allotment, first post..lots of advice always welcome!

Have decided to put a wildlife corner in our new allotment and cant find any frog spawn anywhere, Have we missed it? If so, any other tips for attracting water bugs etc. Have planted water mint, wild leeks and teasel so far.

Welcome Alleycat. I think you may have just missed the frog spawn this year. how long have you had your pond? if you have filled your pond with tap water give a few weeks to settle. Do you have friends with a pond? they use to say, take a bucket of pond water, even mud from an established pond to 'start' a new pond off!
All our pond life came in 'on the wind' so to speak. It just seemed to arrive- lovely when that happens and you see your first pond dwellers.
Good luck an keep us posted please.

You just might get frogs and toads just "turning up" to use your facilities. I didn't have any spawn but digging in the last weedy corner of the allotment came up with two frogs and a toad the other day. So as I'd disturbed their sanctuary put them under the hedge by my small pond where I hope they'll be very happy and eat lots of slugs.
      best wishes
