Sparrowhawk in Greenhouse

I saw a letter in the new RSPB magazine (with picture) from a man who found a Sparrowhawk in his greenhouse. It was beautiful, I'm so envious!
Apparently all was well, no panic and he managed to set it free.

Hmmm, until you've had a sparrowhawk sat on your ceramic plant pot, by the patio windows, chasing your robin behind it!

I feed the birds quite a lot in my garden and regularly have a sparrowhawk, young male, sat on the feeders, waiting for lunch to turn up.

We have a sparrowhawk. I've seen it take a blue tit and a starling off the bird feeders. And I suspect it has decimated our goldfinches and greenfinches. Beautiful bird all the same.

We feed the birds in our garden and we have on a few occasions now had a sparrowhawk take the birds. The other day I heard a commotion in the garden and looked out to see a starling had been caught by the sparrowhawk and the poor thing was screaming it's head off. Well, I'm sorry, but I couldn't just sit there and watch this poor bird get killed, so I went outside and shouted at it. The starling shot off with the sparrowhawk after it, so maybe I only delayed the inevitable, but I like to think I saved him!

We occasionally see a sparrowhawk - I've never seen it take a bird but we've twice found piles of pigeon feathers. So far, I'm inclined to favour the sparrowhawk!

I was inside the greenhouse last summer when a squirrel came hurtling in. It was being chased at top speed by another squirrel.

It was absolutely bonkers, as you can imagine - throwing itself around against the glass. I managed to get out and stepped away, leaving it to figure out what to do. It took about 15 minutes to find its way out of the roof vent.

By some miracle the cucumbers and tomatoes remained intact.

It sounds lucky that the hawk managed to get out unhurt - they get really stressed in a closed environment.
