  • Do Toads eat tomatoes?

    Hello everyone,
I was watering in the greenhouse yesterday and a tiny baby toad sprung from under one of my tomato plants. (Think he slipped in through the small gap in the door). Today his bigger brother came along and he was hiding under one of the plants too; Cute and handy for the slugs! However, it looks as though 'something' has shredded a couple of my marigolds during the last week too . Now I'm hoping these little cuties are not spying my tomato plants. Do toads usually eat tomato plants?

    Thanks,

It will be snails eating your marigolds - they love them.

Pheeew - that's a relief, I was getting images of the toads shreadding the tomato plants. They must be having a few midnight feasts in there if more than one has found it's way in. Thanks!

Toads and frogs are the gardener's friends. They eat slugs, which I suspect are the creatures eating your plants. Either slugs or snails. Snails are sneaky - they avoid the blue pellets, and they climb.

Yes - I think a snail is starting to work on one of my smaller sunflowers outside , I tried some of the org. pellets but there's bite marks on 2 of the leaves. Hopefully my new toad friends will catch them soon!
