  • jacuzzi pond....

we managed to acquire an old corner jacuzzi bath last weekend with the intention of putting it in the ground and making a wildlife pond.

it's not watertight- it's cracked where the taps used to be and some of the jets came out while we were moving it.

any tips on what we should do with it would be greatly appreciated...

the easiest would be to fill in the holes with sealer, and put a pond liner in it. then it will be waterproof.

I shouldn't imagine it's gonna look very natural as a pond. Steep sides will not be good for wildlife iether.

How about sinking it in the ground (leaks and all) and filling it back with soil for a bog garden ???

i would love a jacuzzi as a raised pond ...... but then i have fish, and i've never seen a frog or anything anywhere near here

we plan to dig a big hole to put it in and make a slope using old rubble & rocks for animals & birds to get in & out.

We'd like to grow some plants in it too- what depth of soil/ gravel would we need in the bottom to get good roots?

what else would we need to do by way of maintenance?- if we know in advance we can alter the design to make it easier to look after...

          thanks
