i have cats so completely understand, i feel awful when they bring me 'presents'. i don't know the first thing about dogs but could you not get some sort of deterant for the area around the bird.

your bird sounds like a right little character but if the dog does wise up and get lucky then don't feel too bad, you can't control it

I have a baby blackbird following me round the lotty at the mo. She sits in the shade under my bean teepees, and I throw her bits of Macaroon (it's so dry that worms are in short supply)
I went out today to take some photo`s and they have GONE!!!!!
I took out the usual hand full of sultanas and they weren`t there.
Yesterday I went there and one was sitting up in the middle looking like he was fluffing out his feathers. When I walked past them and they were squarking they would shut up and duck down into the nest(which was quite hard as they were getting quite big.)
Luckly today was to warm for the dog and she stayed indoors all day so hopefully they have gone through the fence so she can`t get them.
I`m going to miss them now when I go out there.

They'll probably return next year to nest again.

I think this has worked, I`ve never done this add photo thing before.
I went out on the front today and found this on the fence infront of the nest.
It`s one of my blackbirds. I know it was one of mine as he didn`t try to fly away when I got close.

Ah, bless. He's still a wee baby ~ his "gape" hasn't gone yet, so Mum is still feeding him.

Well done you, SharonR ! You must be so proud.
