Interesting subject Two Sheds. Yes, Blackbirds, and others , do have localised songs, and songs personal to themselves. I can recognise some of "my" birds by their songs.
Sometimes I have had blackies with very idiosyncratic songs. But it is more usual in starlings. They can mimic it all.
By and large most of the singing here stopped around the middle of June. Did anyone else notice.
The odd whirple is going on, but not the concerted singing.
So maybe those poor soules will get peace from the siren noises.
From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.

Reminds me of our local blackbird - it does quite a passable impersonation of a car alarm. Once or twice I've thought there's been a snippet of mobile ringtone in there, although I may be mistaken on that one.
Funnily enough, I've not heard much from him recently - maybe Alice is onto something.

Nicos - We have the Lyre Birds about 30 minutes drive from where I live here. It's amazing what the bird life can do and what was in the footage is exactly what they're like, if you're lucky to get close enough.
I saw the story on the Blackbird last week, but can see why it's annoying people.I love growing tomatoes.

I've been convinced for some time now that a blackbird is immitating our electric cat scarer - it's exactly the same pitch, just louder - now if only the cat scarer actually scared cats that would be a really neat trick for birds to learn!Life is too short for drama & petty things!
So laugh insanely, love truly and forgive quickly!
