  • Who is my interloper?

I have noticed 'excrement' on my veg patch and am wondering to whom it belongs: friend or foe.
The poo is right at the boundary of the garden, right next to where I imagine the animal comes in (there's a stile there, but we've let the hedge grow up to close the gap for people, but obviously not other creatures.) I first noticed it a good couple of months back and when I went up to look at the rhubarb yesterday, I noticed more of it, in a dug out hole.
Without wishing to go into great detail, the droppings are NOT solid, but are contained to one 'pile' rather than scattered. The colour is a cross between a young babies nappy and a cow pat!
On that note... any ideas? I haven't noticed any other activity within the garden outside of the norm.

I agree, we had that in our garden untill we fenced it off.

Here is a Canadian site- but it's got the exact photo of what we have in our French garden- and there are loads of foxes about....

          Google Image Result for http://www.ontariowildflower.com/images/nature_foxscat.jpg

( I'm pretty sure it's not coyote scat!!!)

In fact...this is gross- so look away now.........one of our cat's had eaten some of it and vomited it up again

Life's a learning curve for us all eh??

It seems to me that you might have a badger.

                        What lovely pages of poo!!!
Nope! I would say looking at the websites that the interloper is neither a fox nor a hedghog. I have to say, I didn't get close enough to smell said poo, but couldn't smell it from a few feet above (the flies were loving it though!)
I had wondered about a badger, and now need someone to post piccies of badger poo for me to reach a conclusion.

Lovely poo pics. Manda & Nicos!
I was thinking hedgehog but as you sound as though you live in a rural area Waffler I suppose it could be anything from that to fox or badger, but I doubt it's the bears, elks or moose off some of the 'poo' links!
