for all those who wants to help bees I've had a very successful "nest" which is now buzzing with a whole colony of this little fella !
You can use a flower pot (clay) upturned with the hole sealed, then the trick is to fill it up with some used straw from a mouse pet cage, or hamster or any "stinky" little animal !!
then place it in a warm area of your garden, on a stone, a piece of wood with a little space hanging over to create a "door"...
I place mine very close to the flower bed (and a few meter from my house) and I actually realized they were there when I accidentally moved it a few inches : big buzzing sound!!
I freaked out but actually they are completely harmless and not aggressive at all !
I even moved it ( my flatmates were actually frightened! ) and none of them tried to sting me... I would say, give it a go next spring it's really nice to see them coming in and out their little house, and fantastic job in the garden !!

Sounds like a great thing to do. Can you post a piccy of the flowerpot affair though please as I am having a very thick-brained day and cannot for the life of me picture how to do it

(flipping CFS is really cheesing me off lately)
      Happy Gardening,

Its not just you shirley, I can't quite visualise what the whole thing looks like. I'd like to put one down the bottom of our garden, they'd bee undisturbed down there.
To see a world in a grain of sand
And a heaven in a wild flower
