  • Not exactly gardening, but definitely wildlife

Guess what I saw on my home from work yesterday!! Walking down a fairly wide, quiet tree-lined residential road not far from the town centre when a beautiful fox ambled across the road in front of me. There was a car driving up the road and the driver slowed right down to have a look. Fox stared at both of us, and then strolled down the lane to the allotments.

we had a fox, it used to live on the waste ground at the back of the house, in the undergrowth under the trees and bushes, i'd sit for hours watching and i'd feed it and it was wonderful when there were babies ....... till they ripped it all out and dug it all up to build an industrial estate .....still left food out, but it stopped eating it. i'm not sure where it lives now, haven't seen it for ages, so don't even know if its alive, but i agree they are gorgeous.

I live in London, and I've seen far more foxes in the year I've been here than my entire previous 27 years living in rural Pennsylvania! Foxes must thrive on curry and chips. There is a pair that live somewhere near, because they're often in the front garden running around and making noise. The male barks, but the female has the weirdest call.. sounds like something you're more likely to hear from a troll or goblin than a cute little fox!

My Nan lives in Hainault, Essex and has a fox that visits her garden every morning and plays with its stash of dog toys that its nicked. I think they are fascinating creatures. Humans cause a lot more cruelty, death and disease than so called animal pests and vermin.
