  • Hedgehogs and sluigs

I've just seen this piece about slugs giving hedgehogs lungworm and thought I'd share it with you.
It looks like we shouldn't be encouraging them to eat slugs and snails after all!!!

I don't know how we can stop them though, as no one has come up with a way to eradicate slugs. I suppose the only thing we can do (edit: just read to the end, this is what they suggest anyway) is try to provide other, more suitable, food as it says they only eat slugs if they are starving.

I could not live without a garden, it is my place to unwind and recover, to marvel at the power of all growing things, even weeds!

I don't think their diet is based on slugs, to say the least. Yes, some slugs will carry lungworm and it is a potential danger for quite a lot of animals that eat them, your pet dog included. So do not worry too much.
