  • Annual visit from the Frog Prince

It's a standing joke with my kids, every year I have to evict a frog from the house. When I lived in the flat with a basement bedroom (about 7 years ago) I had a frog sitting inside the window sill two years running - duly caught and returned to the garden.
Since I've been in the cottage I usually have to remove him or her from the shed, porch or hallway. This morning he was sitting in the back porch looking out the window.
The kids tell me to kiss him and find my Prince Charming, but I settled for putting him back in the garden.
Can't be the same one every year, surely. Does anyone know how long frogs live?

No but we once had one in the downstairs loo doorway. He found the water ok!

      Hi
Frogs reach maturity at around 2 years and have the potential to live for up to seven years. This unfortunately is very rare, most die very early in their life (over 90%!) They are usually taken by predators ie Fish in their tadploe stages, herons, foxes, hedgehogs, grass snakes, and of course cats. Toads do a bit better and can live to their teens, again this is very rare.
      Hope this is of help.

Life expectancy of a frog is from 4 to 15 years, although the longest recorded was 21.

Maybe I should kiss the next one then.
