Great pics SBP!My most bestest childhood holiday memories are those that involved hours of investigating rockpools!Must get out there with the kiddies & find some.(thinking it may involve a trip to either the Norfolk or Essex coast though, don't seem to remember many good ones locally?)
    Cheers!

I lived in Plymouth as a kid, and went to Bigbury and Challaborough a lot. Before moving to France I lived in back in Plymouth, about 50m from the sea. I loved it, waking up in the morning and smelling the sea and hearing the seagulls.
Although I adore living where I live now, I have to say I miss the sea something chronic.

One of the reasons I chose to stay in devon and not move is the sea brought up by it love it. Many a time in the summer holidays we would be on teignmouth beach by 10am and not leave till 6pm mum would give us sixpence for the bus but we would buy chips and walk home. When my boys were small we had a beach hut by the lighthouse and we spent lots of time down there even when it was wet. If you havent been on a sun holiday collect the tokens you will be suprised at what you get we just stayed in a three bedroom caravan with heating, the site had an indoor swimming pool and nightly entertainment for all ages and for three of us ( you have to pay for four even if less ) it cost £68 would deffo go again and have been on a few can reccomend all the sites I always look for an indoor pool as the kids love swimming.
I havent been to Burgh Island for years, a friend designed the tractor thingy that takes you across.

I used to spend summer hols with my Nan & Grandad in a caravan on the Lincs coast near Mablethorpe. I'd spend my bus fare home in the Mablethorpe penny arcades and have to walk home!

We love our cheapo Sun hols (normally) by the seaside, but its not often we get caravans with central heating! The tractor thingy is a strange looking beast, not sure I'd like to brave the waves on it, it looks a bit top-heavy. Great place though the Hams.

Smallblueplanet The site we stayed at was on the Lizzard in Cornwall Sea acres good site look out for it next time you book. Most of the places we have stayed in have been challets. Also a good site in Bude. Only way we get a holiday now. Last year 14 of us ( 7 in each challet ) went on holiday together on a sun holiday to North Devon and when we got there we upgraded and for £20 extra ( per challet ) we got a four bedroomed two bathroom with large sitting /dinning /kitchen area , all 14 of us got round the table it was great.

Sounds great jackie. There's only two of us go, although in the 'early years' we used to go with a mate.

We've been going since (shouts OH cos my memory is cr@p!) ... 1st one was up on the Solway Firth in about (not sure ) 1995. We do our best to never pay more than the minimum (which was £9 x 4), but there are very few nowadays with no service charge. We even book them online now. Have you been on any foreign ones, I've been tempted to try some French coastal ones.

Second one was down in Tintagel - Ocean Cove - that was a lovely place. We particularly enjoy Norfolk ones too cos of all the birdwatching places to go, Minsmere is my fave.
